Modvue Processor

Modvue Touchscreen

MODVUE

Modvue was produced by Gould / Modicon. They developed their own HMI to use in competition with DCS suppliers. This is a software suite first sold in 1982. It operated with a touch screen crt and was designed to assist plant operators with process control. The HMI market at that time was largely controlled by the big industry players and mainly consisted of DCS. These systems from Honeywell, Bailey and Foxboro were complex, expensive and had minimal graphics.

The first Modvue system I had experience with was at Worsley Alumina in the Power Station. The graphics were prety cluncky, but at that time better than the DCS. The use of touch screen technology was cutting edge.
