Modicon 884 Rack

800 Series Modules

P180 Programmer

884 SERIES

The Modicon 884 was a major change away from the large, rugged systems to a smaller footprint designed to be rack mounted.   These were top of the range from 1979 through 1986, when the 984 series became available.
Modicon had been purchased by Gould. The branding then went to Gould Modicon.
Programming was in ladder and we used a P180 or P190 programming panel to enter the program and for diagnostics. By current standards the 884 and the P190 were very primitive, but they controlled a significant part of industry for quite a few years. They were often deployed on remote machines with communications back to a central master PLC and HMI.
These used 800 series I/O, which are still in service in some locations.
