The next Modicon Programmable Controller.
This was produced during the start of the Gould era.
The 484 was manufactured with several basic options. The customer could choose from six memory sizes, two power supply variations, and three instruction sets.
Instruction Sets: O-Basic, l-Enhanced I, 2-Enhanced II
Memory Size: 1- 1/4K, 2 - 1/2K, 3 - 1K, 4 - 2K, 5 - 4K, 6 - 8K
Memory Protect:
The MEMORY PROTECT keyswitch protected the user logic from being changed or lost when the keyswitch is in
the ON position. To alter logic, or "Force" data points, the keyswitch had to be turned to the OFF position.
Programming was in ladder and a P180 programming panel was used to enter the program and for diagnostics. The 484 was a major advance and used the 500 series I/O system, but could also use 200 series remote I/O.
The program could be saved/stored on magnetic tape and reloaded using the L206 tape loader. The L206 connected to the PLC via a J470 adapter and serial cable.
